Deepak Arora
Chairman, Founder Director and Past Chairman, BC Chapter of ICAI

Deepak has been practicing accounting since 1991 and has extensive experience in tax services, auditing and financial consulting, business planning, business evaluation, and management services. Deepak’s expertise includes a broad range of industries. He is capable of assisting you with your financial affairs, including but not limited to preparation of financial statements, tax returns, bank presentations, and business and financial consulting and planning. Deepak Arora initially attained CA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India and Corporate Secretary from ICSI. Deepak then earned a CPA when he came to Canada in 2001. Deepak’s primary focus is to deliver professional accounting and consult services to clients with a personal touch.

Ganesh Sharma
Director, BC Chapter of ICAI

Ganesh Sharma is an experienced IT, Internal Audits, Information Security and Assurance Professional holding multiple credentials including CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIA, FCA (India), Cybersecurity Audit, Security Intelligence Technologist, and SAP Certified Solution Consultant. Since 2016 he has been working as Principal, IT Performance Audits, with Auditor General Manitoba, responsible for managing information technology/information security audits for the office. Apart from the government, he has extensive working experience internationally in the professional and mining sectors. Ganesh is professionally active and has been on the Chapter Boards of Institute of Internal Auditors, ISACA, and founding Director of the British Columbia Chapter of ICAI. Ganesh, chairman of the British Columbia Chapter since 2020-21, was also reelected to the position for the year 2021-22. Ganesh has extensively travelled within North and South Americas, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia.

Harjit Bhasin

Harjit Singh Bhasin qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India in 1989 and was placed on the Merit list. Harjit became a CGA (now CPA) in Canada in 1996. Harjit has over 30 years of accounting experience, including working with Big 4 firms like Price Waterhouse Coopers in India and Ernst & Young in Kuwait. Harjit now runs a successful accounting firm in Surrey that caters to a variety of clients, including doctors, physiotherapists, engineers, consultants, small and medium-sized business owners, etc. Harjit’s firm provides accounting, financial and taxation services to businesses and individual clients.


Sonal Goyal
Secretary and Director, BC Chapter of ICAI
CPA (Canada), CA (India), M-Com, B-Com

Sonal is a qualified professional and works with Amur Financial Group as a Director of Finance. She has more than 15 years of professional experience working with publicly listed and private companies in the banking and telecommunications sectors across Asia, Africa, and North America. Sonal has a Masters in Accounting and Business Statistics and holds Chartered Professional Accounting designation (Canada) and Chartered Accountant designation (India) with over five years of auditing and consulting experience with EY. Sonal is a part of the Board of the British Columbia Chapter of ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) and enjoys spending time with family in her spare time. Sonal is also actively helping the new immigrants settle in Canada and guiding them through their professional growth.

Sanchita Mehta
Treasurer and Director, BC Chapter of ICAI
CPA (Canada)

Sanchita is a designated member of ICAI and CPA Canada. She is also pursuing her In-depth Tax course from CPA and is currently working as a Senior Tax Associate at PwC in Vancouver. Previously Sanchita has worked with EY Kuwait and the EY Vancouver office. Sanchita has experience in Corporate tax compliance and consulting in various industries, focusing on the mining industry. Sanchita is also the Editor of the BC Chapter of ICAI’s annual magazines and quarterly newsletters and works passionately towards assisting new immigrants in settling in Canada and preparing for the CFE.

Vijay Kumar Gupta
Director and Founder Chariman, BC Chapter of ICAI

Vijay Kumar Gupta, MBA, is the President of Canada Infrastructure & Overseas Inc., a multidisciplinary firm having the expertise to provide a complete array of services necessary for successful project completion: visioning, documentation, development, finance, management, technology and execution. Vijay specializes in Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Vijay has worked as a Financial and PPP Specialist on several projects in India, Iran, Mauritius, Indonesia and Nepal, including, amongst others, projects funded by World Bank / ADB / USAID. He provided training, presented papers and planned and implemented professional seminars/conferences/activities on Public-Private Partnership and other topics at several international events.

Shankar Roy
Director Past Chairman, BC Chapter of ICAI

Qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants and obtained his FCA designation. He has completed the Certificate of Fraud Examiners, Senior Lead in ISO Systems. He is a summa cum laude, having earned a Gold Medal and other National Scholarships for his Graduation and was a Common-wealth Scholar. He was the President of Alliance Funds Management, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions. He supports the Union Gospel Mission and is an active board member or founder member of other Spiritual or Non-¬ Profit organizations in Vancouver. He has been the President of Maritime Services Ltd., Vancouver, with offices in Singapore and India.

Tarun Bhatia
Director, BC Chapter of ICAI

Tarun Bhatia is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants Association of Canada (CPA) and a Fellow member of the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (FCA). Tarun has more than 25 years of accounting and financial services experience in varied fields, including public practice, merchant banking and financial management of not-for-profit organizations. Tarun runs a successful public practice firm in Burnaby. His other capacity acts as a Chief Financial Officer of the Association of Neighborhood Houses of BC, one of the largest charities in British Columbia. Tarun is a recipient of the 2012 British Columbia CFO of the year award in the non-profit category by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and Business in Vancouver magazine. Tarun has a passion for music. He is well known for his singing and has participated in several stage shows in Greater Vancouver.


Poonam Mandhana
Director, BC Chapter of ICAI
CPA, MBA, CA (India)

Poonam obtained her CA designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 2015 and moved to Canada to pursue MBA in 2017. Later Poonam earned her CPA designation very recently in 2021. Poonam is currently working as a tax specialist with KPMG in the Enterprise tax team, mainly involved in compliance and advisory services to private businesses.

Before moving to Canada, Poonam was working in the wealth management team of Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited.


Inder Pal Marwaha
Director, BC Chapter of ICAI
CA (India)

Inder Pal Marwaha was designated Indian Chartered Accountant in May 2004 batch. Since then, Inder has been providing accounting services based on clients’ unique needs in India and in Canada. Inder Pal Marwaha has built business on his relationships with his clients. He is an active member of BC Chapter of ICAI from 2016. Inder is also serving in the position of Director in the BC Chapter of ICAI in the year 2021. Inder is also actively involved in the community service and helping to the new Chartered accountants immigrants in Canada.
